Stimolata da mio fratello Andrea, che da anni fa il consulente anche per progetti di blogging aziendale, nell’estate del 2007 ho deciso di metter su un blog per condividere le mie conoscenze e i miei interessi professionali.
Dopo aver trascorso più di vent’anni nel settore IT, in aziende come IBM, USRobotics e 3Com, occupandomi di marketing, product management, supporto tecnico e business development a livello internazionale, nel 2004 ho iniziato ad occuparmi di reti wireless, progettando e gestendo corsi di formazione tecnica per i rivenditori di USRobotics. I numerosi corsi realizzati in questi anni sono stati molto apprezzati dai partecipanti, e penso che il taglio pratico sia uno dei motivi del successo.
Nel 2007 ho iniziato anche a proporre dei corsi wireless in modo autonomo. La prima esperienza è stato un mini-corso per ragazzi che frequentavano il corso per elettricisti al Centro di formazione professionale dei Salesiani di Milano. Spiegare in modo semplice come funzionano le reti wireless a un gruppetto di adolescenti è stata una bella sfida! Spero tanto che quello che hanno imparato gli possa essere utile nel mondo del lavoro, oggi che molti elettricisti si stanno allargando anche all’installazione di reti wireless presso i loro clienti.
Con lo stesso spirito ho progettato e tenuto un corso di 32 ore finanziato con voucher dalla Regione Lombardia (i dettagli sono sulla pagina Corsi Wireless). Anche qui i partecipanti vengono da vari settori, e non mancano gli elettricisti.
Parlare in pubblico – sia in inglese che in italiano – ha fatto sempre parte del mio lavoro, e questo mi ha permesso di acquisire competenze, metodologie, stili e strumenti per preparare presentazioni efficaci, utilizzate poi nei corsi e nei convegni (qualche esempio sulla pagina Portfolio). Seguire gli sviluppi di questo settore è diventata una passione che vorrei condividere anche su questo blog.
Mi interessa anche il mondo dei nuovi strumenti gratuiti utilizzabili per la comunicazione e il marketing sia a livello personale che professionale. Il blogging è uno di questi strumenti, ma ce ne sono tantissimi altri, come podcasting, archivi di risorse on-line, Skype, web-conferencing, slide sharing, gestione sondaggi e applicazioni gratuite sia on-line che scaricabili.

For some time my brother Andrew, who is an information design consultant also involved in corporate blogging projects, had been urging me to get into blogging, so in the summer of 2007 I decided to follow his advice and put up a blog to share my knowledge and professional interests.
I have spent more than twenty years in the IT sector, in companies such as IBM, USRobotics and 3Com, with roles in marketing, management, technical support and business development with international responsibilities. In 2004 I started focusing on wireless networks, developing and teaching technical training courses for USRobotics resellers. The numerous courses taught in these past 4 years have been very well received by participants, and I think that the practical hands-on approach has been one of the keys of their success.
In 2007 I began to offer wireless courses independently. I organized and ran a mini-class for teen-age boys in Milano studying to become electricians at a vocational high school. Explaining in simple terms how wireless networks work to a group of teenagers was a real challenge! I truly hope that what they learned can be of use in their careers, now that many electricians are widening their activities and installing wireless networks at customer locations.
With the same spirit I developed a 32-hour training course financed partially through vouchers granted by the regional government (Regione Lombardia). Details, in Italian, can be found on this page. Participants come from many sectors, and electricians are present as well. The blog has lesson reports with photographs taken during the sessions.
Speaking in public – both in English and Italian – has always been a major part of my work life, and this has allowed me to gain skills, methodologies, styles and tools to prepare effective presentations, used in customer briefings, conferences and training sessions (some recent examples are listed in the Portfolio page on this blog). I follow with great interest the latest developments in this field and I want to start posting on this subject soon.
Another world that interests me involves new free internet tools that can be used for communication and marketing at a personal or professional level. Blogging is one of them, but there are many others, like podcasting, on-line resources, Skype, web-conferencing, slide sharing, surveys and free applications for both on-line and off-line use.
